Taking tracks and blending them together... The art of the DJ.

A little about this mix:

I had the idea to do a straight up battle mix and this was the result. I also chose to give it as much of an old school sound as possible, so none of the mix points use anything but volume tricks (no EQ changes). I broke my own rule a little with the adding of "Renegade Master" with "Old School Scat", but the effect was just too cool to skip.

Tom's Diner is a rather famous acapella track that most people recognize instantly as it starts to play. The version I used here is a break remix with no name attached (from a white label record). I sped this version way up to blend with the other tracks and I ended up really liking how it sounded.

"Last Bongo in Brighton" actually is "Electric Rain Dance"... or at least the beginning is. "Last Bongo" starts with the sampled drum beat of "Rain Dance", adds a little more bass, then quickly switches to the guitar and horns part. It's actually kind of hard to distinguish the two tracks and where the mix point is exactly even tho I just slammed from one to the other.

"Clear" by Cybertron is the beat that Missy Elliot used for her hit single "Lose Control". Drop the Boom is a remix of the Freestyle track "Don't Stop the Rock". "Renegade Master" is technically a remix of "Old School Scat".

I used two Zeb Rok Ski tracks on accident, but would have used more if I was paying less attention. Zeb Rok Ski is a standard name when it comes to Old School Breaks. The fact Zeb makes mostly compilations and medleys makes mixing out of his stuff a breeze and adds a more playful air to the overall mix.

I am listed as DJ Maru as the artist here. The first nine or ten mixes I post will have that name only, but after that it will be split with DJ Maru/KillerJunglist. I haven't quite decided if I want to change my name on my mixes yet.

Please use the Mediafire link (once it is posted) as your main download source. It will have the most updated file information and album art etc. If the Mediafire link doesn’t work for some reason, please feel free to use the mirrors provided. Thanks!
